EU stance on GM crops is diverging from the rest of the world

“Three key elements for agri-biotech are R&D, trade in agricultural products and deployment of technology”, the chair of the UK’s Agricultural Council for Biotechnology Mark Buckingham told MPs in Westminster at a hearing this week. “The latter has been blocked by the EU but the former two are doing well,” he said, adding that ‘the EU's precautionary approach has become a 'political football’.
