About the Technical Seed Sales Manager Role
The Commercial Flower Representative supports regional sales and market development activities for the flower seed portfolio through customer engagement, product support, and collaboration with internal teams. This role focuses on building relationships with growers, distributors, and regional sales representatives while assisting with market initiatives, trials, events, and sales activities that contribute to long-term growth. Working closely with the National Sales Manager and broader Flower Team, the position offers hands-on learning and development opportunities within the commercial floriculture industry. This early-career role is designed for individuals interested in developing commercial sales and market development experience within the floriculture industry under the direct supervision and guidance of the National Sales Manager as outlined below.
Essential Job Duties and Key Responsibilities
Sales & Customer support
- Support relationship-building efforts with growers, distributors, brokers, and industry partners.
- Assist with customer communication, sales activities, and market development initiatives within assigned territories.
- Participate in customer visits, product discussions, and follow-up activities to support account growth and customer satisfaction.
- Work alongside the Sales Manager and Flower Team to support annual sales goals and business initiatives.
Events, Trials & Greenhouse Support
- Assist with preparation and coordination of company events, including CAST and Cut Flower Open Day.
- Support greenhouse and trial activities related to product evaluations, customer visits, and market development programs.
- Help coordinate trial preparation, event setup, and general greenhouse organization alongside internal teams and external support staff.
- Participate in maintaining readiness for customer visits, trial reviews, and company events.
Product Knowledge & Technical Development
- Develop technical knowledge of flower seed products, greenhouse production, and market applications through hands-on training and field experience.
- Participate in customer visits and trial evaluations to better understand grower needs and product performance.
- Assist in communicating product features, benefits, and performance observations to customers and internal teams.
- Support flower trials, demonstrations, and product evaluations while learning to interpret and communicate results.
Market Development & Industry Engagement
- Support the team in monitoring market trends, competitor activity, and customer preferences to help identify potential growth opportunities.
- Assist with gathering observations and feedback from customer interactions, product trials, and industry events.
- Participate in trade shows, customer meetings, flower trials, and industry events to support the flower team, company and product portfolio representation.
- Help maintain market and customer information and share relevant updates with internal teams.
Collaboration & Administrative Support
- Work closely with Product Development, Marketing, and Supply Chain teams to support customer and market needs.
- Maintain records of customer interactions, trial observations, and sales activities.
- Assist with preparation of sales summaries, market feedback, and internal reports.
Skills, Qualifications and Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture, Agronomy, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 1–3 years of experience in horticulture, agriculture, floriculture, greenhouse production, or a related field preferred; recent graduates with applicable internship, greenhouse, or hands-on horticultural experience are encouraged to apply. Strong technical knowledge of ornamental crops, greenhouse production, and/or cut flower markets.
- Excellent communication skills through oral presentations and written reports in English and Spanish.
- Spanish preferred but not required.
- Proficient in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, Power Point, and Teams.
- Proven ability to work with minimal direction while adapting to changing priorities.
- Express confidence and professionalism with cross functional teams, both internally and externally.
- Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize under pressure and meet timelines.
- Ability to work in a rapid paced environment, prioritize tasks, meet multiple deadlines, and ensure that work is accomplished in a timely fashion.
- Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with seed dealers and growers within the assigned territory.
- Proven experience in people management, team leadership, or supervisory roles.
- Be insurable with a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to travel within North America and internationally.
