The company celebrates the 3rd International Seed Day with five talks on the applications of seeds in health and plant nutrition.
The Beyond Seeds Group has commemorated International Seed Day, celebrated every April 26th, as established by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). The company is celebrating this anniversary for the third consecutive year with an event focused on highlighting the applications of seeds beyond agriculture.
To this end, it developed a program of technical talks in which it presented the results of its research in the fight against cancer that have led to the development of the biopharmaceutical NEO-920, its new line of plant nutrition, Nanometic , which is expected to revolutionize the agricultural sector and one of its main R&D projects aimed at improving human health through varietal development in eggplant.
This was explained by the director of Beyond Seeds, Francisco Bermúdez , during the opening of this 3rd International Seed Day, who highlighted the "enormous potential that seeds have in the fields of biomedical research, plant nutrition, and agri-food innovation."
The headquarters of the Beyond Seeds group , located at the PITA Scientific Headquarters, brought together almost a hundred attendees to this event on April 24, including institutional and business authorities, as well as numerous researchers and personalities from Almeria society, who enjoyed several talks given by researchers and technicians from the University of Granada, the University of Almeria and the Almeria company itself.
The first talk was given by doctors José Carlos Prados and Consolación Melguizo from the Biomedical Research Center of the University of Granada , who focused their intervention on 'Biopharmaceutical NEO-920: seeds VS cancer'. Next, Dr. Gloria Belén Ramírez , from the University of Granada , focused on 'Biomimicry. Why do we look for solutions in nature?'. Afterwards, Dr. Miguel Guzmán , from the University of Almería , gave a talk on 'Nanotechnology in plant nutrition'. After him, it was the turn of Dr. and researcher at Beyond Seeds Andrés Cáceres , who focused on 'nanoMetic. Biomimetic innovation for plant nutrition'. As a prelude to the last technical talk, Dr. Alejandro García , from the University of Granada, gave a scientific monologue on the importance of seeds in health research. Next, Drs. Ana Guzmán and Edgar García-Fortea , from the Beyond Seeds team, discussed "Health-oriented Plant Breeding: Eggplant and Cancer." Finally, Natalia Corbalán and Adolfo Garcia presented SOS Rural , the platform for the defense of agriculture and the rural environment, and its White Paper.

Following the conferences and prior to the cocktail reception on the terrace of the Scientific Headquarters, Beyond Seeds surprised attendees with a cooking demonstration led by the chefs of the Katsu Izakaya restaurant . David Papis and Héctor García presented their imaginative fermentation creations using Beyond Seeds' unique vegetables, such as zucchini, Bínu, their Macchiato tomatoes, and dragon fruit.

La compañía celebra la III Edición del Día Internacional de la Semilla con cinco charlas sobre las aplicaciones de las semillas en la salud y en la nutrición vegetal
El Grupo Beyond Seeds ha conmemorado el Día Internacional de la Semilla, que se celebra cada 26 de abril, según lo estableció la Organización de las Naciones Unidas para la Alimentación y la Agricultura (FAO). La empresa celebra esta efeméride por tercer año consecutivo con un evento enfocado a poner en valor las aplicaciones que tienen las semillas más allá de la agricultura.
Para ello, desarrolló un programa de charlas técnicas en las que presentó los resultados de sus investigaciones en la lucha contra el cáncer que han dado lugar al desarrollo del biofármaco NEO-920, su nueva línea de nutrición vegetal, Nanometic, que prevé revolucionar el sector agrícola y uno de sus principales proyectos de I+D orientado a mejorar la salud humana a través del desarrollo varietal en berenjena.
Así lo desgranó el director de Beyond Seeds, Francisco Bermúdez, durante la inauguración de esta III Edición del Día Internacional de la Semilla, quien destacó el “enorme potencial que poseen las semillas en los ámbitos de la investigación biomédica, la nutrición vegetal y la innovación agroalimentaria”.
La sede del grupo Beyond Seeds, ubicada en la Sede Científica del PITA, reunió este 24 de abril a casi un centenar de asistentes a este evento, entre ellos, autoridades institucionales y empresariales, así como numerosos investigadores y personalidades de la sociedad almeriense, que disfrutaron de varias charlas impartidas por investigadores y técnicos de la Universidad de Granada, la Universidad de Almería y de la propia compañía almeriense.
La primera charla corrió a cargo de los doctores del Centro de Investigación Biomédica de la Universidad de Granada José Carlos Prados y Consolación Melguizo, quienes centraron su intervención en ‘Biofármaco NEO-920: semillas VS cáncer’. A continuación, la doctora Gloria Belén Ramírez, de la Universidad de Granada, se centró en ‘Biomimética. ¿Por qué buscamos soluciones en la naturaleza?’. Posteriormente, el doctor Miguel Guzmán, de la Universidad de Almería, ofreció una charla sobre ‘Nanotecnología en la nutrición vegetal’. Tras él, fue el turno del doctor e investigador de Beyond Seeds Andrés Cáceres, que se centró en ‘nanoMetic. Innovación biomimética para la nutrición vegetal’. Como preludio a la última charla técnica, el doctor Alejandro García, de la Universidad de Granada, llevó a cabo un monólogo científico sobre la importancia de la semilla en la investigación sobre la salud. Seguidamente, los doctores Ana Guzmán y Edgar García-Fortea, del equipo de Beyond Seeds, se dedicaron a hablar de ‘Mejora genética vegetal orientada a la salud: berenjena y cáncer’. Como cierre Natalia Corbalán y Adolfo Garcia presentaron SOS Rural, la plataforma para la defensa de la agricultura y el medio rural y su Libro Blanco.

Tras las conferencias y previo al cóctel ofrecido una vez en la terraza de la Sede Científica, Beyond Seeds sorprendió a los asistentes con un showcooking que corrió a cargo de los chefs del restaurante Katsu Izakaya. David Papis y Héctor García presentaron sus imaginativas elaboraciones de fermentaciones a partir de los vegetales singulares de Beyond Seeds, como Zucchiolo, Bínu, sus tomates Macchiato o los frutos del dragón.
