To apply for listing and/or plant breeders’ rights for a vegetable variety, a Technical Questionnaire (TQ) must be submitted. The Board for Plant Varieties follows the CPVO TQ as closely as possible, so that the questions are aligned. Recently, the CPVO introduced a change in all TQ's for vegetable crops.
Submission of photos with the application for a vegetable variety
Since January 2026, CPVO strongly recommends submitting one or more photos together with an application. This concerns question 07:04 in the TQ. If photos are submitted, additional information is requested regarding the location of the plant material, the condition and the date on which the photos were taken. We understand that this information may not always be available. In that case, these questions do not have to be answered.
Submitting photos is therefore not mandatory for vegetable crops, but it is recommended, as photos can certainly add value for the DUS examination.
When revising the TQs, the Board for plant varieties will incorporate the amendment under 07:04.
Foto’s meesturen bij aanmelding van een groenteras
Voor het aanvragen van toelating en/of kwekersrecht voor een groenteras moet een Technische Vragenlijst (TQ) worden ingediend. De Raad voor plantenrassen volgt hiervoor zoveel mogelijk de TQ van het CPVO, zodat de vragen overeenkomen. Onlangs voerde het CPVO in alle TQ’s voor groentegewassen een wijziging door.
Foto's meesturen bij aanmelding van een groenteras
Sinds januari 2026 raadt het CPVO sterk aan om één of meerdere foto’s mee te sturen met een aanvraag. Dit is vraag 07:04 in de TQ. Als er foto’s meegestuurd worden, wordt er ook gevraagd naar de plaats van het materiaal, de conditie en op welke datum de foto’s gemaakt zijn. We begrijpen dat deze informatie misschien niet altijd bekend is. In dat geval hoeft u deze vragen niet te beantwoorden.
Het meesturen van een foto is dus niet verplicht bij groentegewassen, maar wordt wel aanbevolen. Dit omdat foto’s zeker van toegevoegde waarde kunnen zijn bij de uitvoering van het DUS-onderzoek.
Bij de revisie van de TQ’s neemt de Raad voor plantenrassen de wijziging bij vraag 07:04 over.
