Missouri Governor Jay Nixon and BRDG Park President Sam Fiorello announced SyMyco, Inc., a freshly created joint venture with the intent to combine the technical and market experience of Mycorrhizal Applications, Inc. of Grants Pass, Oregon and production expertise of Symbiotic Sciences, New Delhi, India. SyMyco established a new laboratory facility at the world’s largest plant science institute, the BioResearch and Development Growth Park (BRDG Park, pronounced “bridge”).
Since 1995, Mycorrhizal Applications, Inc. has become the world's largest producer and provider of mycorrhizal inoculum that accelerates plant growth and benefits their health. Symbiotic Sciences, founded in 2007, specializes in state-of-the-art technology and processes for production of beneficial micro-organisms. Combining the two makes for a "symbiotic" company with goals to increase crop yields through products that better deliver water and nutrients to farmers’ fields via beneficial mycorrhizal fungi.
SyMyco and Mycorrhizal Application’s research is focused on “friendly” mycorrhizal fungi which expands a plant’s roots by adding thousands of tiny absorbing fungal threads. These fungi play a critical role in the health and productivity of 90 percent of plant species in natural areas and form with most major crop species; they also reduce the need for water and chemical fertilizers.

SyMyco is currently in business at BRDG Park with plans to grow to 80 workers in the next 5 years. This joint venture is sure to be successful for Mycorrhizal Applications and Symbiotic Sciences, not to mention the agriculture market and sustainability.
