Australian Barley Technical Symposium (ABTS) and the Malting Barley Varietal Accreditation Systems

Australia
September 20, 2017

Barley Australia would like to congratulate the organising committee of the 18th
Australian Barley Technical Symposium, which was held in Hobart from the 3rd to
the 6th of September 2017. The quality of the presentations and the opportunity
for global networking was invaluable for the Australian Barley Industry.

It was pleasing to hear the importance of Malting Barley Varietal Accreditation
Systems reinforced in key presentations at the symposium by Clare Johnson from
GRDC, Gary Hanning from ABInBev Global (USA) and Yin Hua from Tsingtao
(China).

Barley Australia continues to work with key stakeholders to improve and
strengthen the Australian Malting Barley Varietal Accreditation system, which is on
par with other accreditation systems around the globe. This rigorous system is
highly valued by both Domestic and International Malting and Brewing
Organisations and is essential to maintaining the high-quality reputation of
Australian malting barleys.
