Vilmorin North America, has a full-time opening in Salinas, CA for a reliable, organized, self-motivated individual to assume the responsibilities of Product Development with an emphasis on Brassicas and Leafy vegetables in the production regions of Coastal California.

This position will also work in collaboration with the company’s Sales and Research teams as well as our suppliers.

Essential Functions include but are not limited to:

• Plant, oversee and evaluate trials at various phases of development
• Formulate a trialing plan
• Prepare and distribute trial maps
• Arrange seed samples and determine seed allocations for the various production cycles
• Provide ongoing reports of variety performance to relevant staff within Shamrock
• Generate trial summaries for Shamrock and its suppliers identifying the future status of the tested varieties
• Travel to trial locations
• Receive, document and track variety releases
• Enter data in trial results data bases
• Write variety descriptions and photograph products
• Review marketing materials (fliers/brochures/website) for thoroughness and accuracy

Qualifications and Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in an agricultural related field
• 2 – 5 years’ experience preferred
• Prior experience and working knowledge in Leafy vegetables and Brassicas
• Knowledge and understanding of seed industry preferred
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and database capabilities
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
• Ability to work in various climates both indoors and outdoors
• Spanish speaking a plus
