De explanatory notes van het CPVO voor de naamgeving van rassen zijn in overleg met lidstaten en bedrijfsleven recent gereviseerd. Sinds 1 januari is deze nieuwe versie van kracht.
Hierdoor is het voor de bedrijven duidelijker wat er wel of niet acceptabel is als rasbenaming. Aspecten als harmonisatie van toepassing van naamgevingsregels en voorspelbaarheid van toetsuitslagen werden ook betrokken bij deze revisie.
De Raad voor Plantenrassen volgt, naast de EU-regelgeving voor de geschiktheid van rasbenamingen (EU 2021/384), de nieuwe versie van de explanatory notes voor de toetsing en verwerking van ingediende naamsvoorstellen voor aanvragen voor toelating en kwekersrechtverlening.

New version of the CPVO explanatory notes for the checking of variety denominations

The explanatory notes of the CPVO for the suitability of variety denominations have been revised together with member states and seed sector. This new version has become applicable as from 1 January 2022.
The revised explanatory notes will give more clarity for stakeholders on the suitability of variety denominations. Aspects as harmonization and predictability of decisions on variety denominations have also been included in the revision process.
The new version of the explanatory notes for the suitability of variety denominations has been taken over by the Board for plant varieties. The explanatory notes and EU commission implementing regulation EU 2021/384 will be used for the checking and processing of submitted denomination proposals for applications for listing and plant breeders’ rights.
