The NordGen online store is open - Order Nordic seeds and potatoes
Sweden
March 2026
Do you want to help keep our Nordic cultural heritage alive? You can do so by sowing, growing, and harvesting old varieties of garden plants from the Nordic genebank!
A few weeks ago, NordGen opened its doors to private individuals, allowing them to order seeds and mini potato tubers from the Nordic countries' joint gene bank. The seeds for sale are surplus from NordGen’s annual propagation, and this year there are more than 70 seed varieties and 12 potato varieties to choose from.
Here are two examples from this year's selection:
- Potato, 'Jaakko' (FI): A medium-early, high-yielding potato variety launched on the Finnish market in 1951. Suitable for baking or mashing.
- Spinach, 'Roland' (DK): A uniform, high-yielding spinach variety with good flavour and large leaves. Developed in Denmark in the late 1970s.
Sales will continue until 31 May.
The online shop is available in Swedish for customers with addresses in the Nordic countries.
