Cabadbaran City farmers are moving into the premium rice market with a new Philippine Good Agricultural Practices (PhilGAP)-certified brand that gives locally produced rice a higher-value outlet.
Recently launched by the Avanceña Beneficiaries and Farmers Multi-purpose Cooperative (ABFMPC), Angel Premium Rice is NSIC Rc 160 sourced exclusively from farms certified under PhilGAP and processed in a modern milling facility.
Offering consumers with fresh, safe, and premium-quality rice while creating greater value and income opportunities for local farmers, the product is supported under the Rice Business Innovations Program 2.0 in partnership with the local government unit of Cabadbaran City.
Cabadbaran City Mayor Judy C. Amante expressed support for the initiative and the city’s continuing efforts to create opportunities for farmers.
“I hope that more cooperatives among farmers will succeed and prosper while we continue to work together to strengthen the agriculture sector in our city,” Amante said.
ABFMPC received its PhilGAP certification in 2025 and has since received continuing technical and institutional support from PhilRice Agusan and partner agencies, including Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty, DSWD Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), Department of Agriculture-Caraga, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Negosyo Center, and Agricultural Training Institute (ATI).
