Growers striving to produce high yielding canola crops can now access the latest information from trials, demonstrations and other successful growers to assist in their 2010 cropping programs.
The Over The Bar With Better Canola Agronomy publication has been produced from the Better Oilseeds project which is jointly funded by the Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) and the Australian Oilseeds Federation.
The project provides much-needed support for growers of oilseeds, aiming to ensure critical mass and consistency of production and to improve the quality of grain.
The Over The Bar With Better Canola Agronomy book contains case studies of nine outstanding growers from a range of rainfall zones across Australia who are finding success in modern cropping techniques to maximise establishment and cost-efficiency for their canola crops.
Results from Better Oilseeds trials and demonstrations from each canola-growing state in 2008 are also presented in the book.
These provide new information on a range of issues that farmers need to consider before sowing a crop of canola. These include fertiliser strategies, blackleg management, sowing time, variety choice, seed source, herbicide tolerance type and management of dual purpose canola for grain and grazing.
The book is available free (plus postage and handling) through GRDC’s Ground Cover Direct, phone 1800 110044 or email ground-cover-direct@canprint.com.au, quoting order code GRDC485.
Other publications are also available through Ground Cover Direct to assist growers of oilseeds, including Raising the Bar with Better Canola Agronomy (published spring 2008), Over the Bar with Better Canola Agronomy (published Autumn 2010), Raising the Bar with Better Sunflower Agronomy, and Raising the Bar with Better Soybean Agronomy.
