Precision Laboratories announces new research featuring Persist Ultra and Border Xtra 8L

Waukegan, Illinois, USA
April 28, 2010

Precision Laboratories recently announced new research featuring Persist® Ultra and Border™ Xtra 8L. The combination of these two proven adjuvants was shown to enhance the biological performance of Kixor® herbicide technology across a wide range of weed species.

Persist Ultra combines a unique blend of methylated canola oil and surfactants, optimizing performance and mixing characteristics with a wide range of tank mix partners. Border Xtra 8L is an activator adjuvant that optimizes herbicide performance and is proven to provide superior drift reduction.

In a 2010 university research study using Kixor technology, Persist Ultra and Border Xtra 8L were compared to an ordinary MSO and tested against three weed species – marestail, velvetleaf and waterhemp. The combined technology of Persist Ultra and Border Xtra 8L outperformed the ordinary MSO and ammonium sulfate.

“This new research shows how the unique technology in Border Xtra 8L goes beyond delivering superior drift control by also enhancing droplet retention on leaf surfaces,” said James Reiss, vice president of agricultural chemistries at Precision Laboratories. “Ordinary drift retardants are known for making bigger droplets, which splatter or bounce off of target leaf surfaces, resulting in lower levels of weed control. With the combination of Persist Ultra and Border Xtra 8L, growers can feel confident that they are getting maximum levels of weed control on their corn and soybean acres while reducing their risk from drift.”

In a 2009 research study using Kixor technology, BASF compared Persist Ultra to ordinary MSOs and tested them against four weed species – giant ragweed, kochia, ivyleaf morningglory and velvetleaf. Persist Ultra outperformed the ordinary MSOs by a statistically significant amount.
